recorder

1. n. [Formation Evaluation]
Also called camera, the device used in early logging to record logging measurements on photographic film. The camera consisted of a light shining on galvanometers, which reflected the light to produce a trace on one or more films. The galvanometers deflected according to the log measurement to give the log reading. The films were turned by the depth wheel, which gave the depth axis of the log.
